Inspiring Beautiful Rooms

I love this kitchen, the shabby chic/ primitive island and cupboard are just gorgeous. I love mixing elements like these primitive pieces with the more elegant look of the beautiful chandelier! You can also tell that the owners of this kitchen are collectors! I'm so excited to be linking up to sweet Debra's Vintage Inspiration Friday at http://commonground-debrasvintagedesigns.blogspot.com/
I love everything about this dinning room, from the gorgeous table and chairs to the architectural element, the lady statue, the column with the urn, the gorgeous painting of the lady, and the stunning chandelier! Theses first few pictures has been my style for many years now, not that my kitchen looks anything like these gorgeous rooms, but now I'm really liking the less is more look, just a simply look like in the next picture!
I think this dinning room is so elegant, it's so simply, but decorated with these gorgeous pieces, you don't need a lot of things to go with it! I'm loving the more simply look, now I'm in trouble because I still also love to collect, and love all the things I've collected over the years, and believe me my house is full of all of my little treasures!
I found this room in the magazine and it's also another favorite of mine!
But then I found this, very simply, but beautiful room! I don't know what decorating direction to go now, I'm leaning towards a change to go more clean lines/ simple look.
Although I'm loving the more clean line look, I know at this point in my life I still want to keep all of the things that I have collected over the years, but I do have a plan for whenever I do redecorate. I have a little unfinished cottage outside of our home... I have plans of turning it into a great space, and I can house a lot of my collected pieces there, they will be out of the house, but I will still be able to enjoy them! I'll be showing you my little unfinished cottage soon! I would love to hear what your decorating style is! Please stop by Debra's from http://commonground-debrasvintagedesigns.blogspot.com/ to visit her and all the other participants.

Hello Daphne... oooh, these photos are all so beautiful... how fun that you have a little cottage outside your home that you can keep your collectibles in... I am loving things a bit more simple as well, however I shall not part with any of my treasures I have collected over many years... it's funny how now all the magazines, books, etc are calling it the "Prairie" look... I have had that style since my little farmhouse we built in 1985, but moved from in 1998... I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same... so glad I kept all of my "Prairie" type rustic things... I do like to mix them with more elegant things as well, like the chandeliers you have shown... xoxo Julie Marie (I think it's fun to have many different decorating styles that all blend smoothly into one look that says "Me")...

G'morn Daphne ~ I cling to the treasures that I decorate with, but am having no problem tucking away or giving away the pieces that are less important to my heart. Our decorations are for ourselves, just to enjoy ... regardless of the 'trends' of the time.

These lovely rooms are so elegant & luscious.

Have a beautiful weekend ~

I love the first photo. I am trying to figure out how to decorate a future place and I want a certain look but have to pull it all together in my head. So I'm gathering ideas...your site always helps. I love jewelry too, I sell other people's because I can't keep it all! Jennifer

Hi Daphne! I love love these photos!!!!
I cannot agree with you more about wantint to simplify my decorating. I have the same problem as you...what to do with all my collections!! I have sooo much china. Last weekend we celebrated our Canadian Thanksgiving and my hubby's family where all giving me a hard time over all my china collections lol !
That last bedroom photo I found so calming and relaxing...but I always end up adding more stuff!!

Hi Daphne, I love the first photo with the mix of the shabby and elegance, the others are pretty but lack charm, they look like show room homes that no one lives in. Since we all know life isn't like that and tend to enjoy what I'm most comfortable in. I tried the simplicity a few years ago then eventually things crept back in, so now back to square one, me I say save yourself the work and enjoy! Bloom where you are planted and enjoy whatever makes you happy! Hugs and thanks for stopping by my blog today, I love your visits and sweet comments!! Marilou

Daphne,
I love the table in the first picture. I bought a similar table to use as a kitchen island. When we tried to make it work, it was about 10" too long and just left no room to move around it. We ended up cutting the legs off and making 2 coffee tables from the one table. The bottom shelf became to top of the second coffee table. My husband then created a table to use as an island from wood recovered from our property. Love all the photos.

Love that chandelier in the kitchen and I am really loving that second picture. Also the bedroom with the vanity ~ who wouldn't feel just lovely in a room like that! You would probably like looking at Suzanne Somers house pictures. I know I saw some at Julia's Hooked on Houses blog, but I'll bet you could Google it, too. Her house was similar in style and I think you'll like it! : )

Hi Daphne
I know the dilemma, I love the clean look but I like the layered look also and that has been my style for many years... so I just mix it. My family/sunroom is cleaner and my dining room is layered... I just do what I love, after all it is my house - for me - for my comfort for what makes me happy.
Many Blessings
Rebecca

You know, I have been appreciating the cleaner look lately too, but I don't know if I would love it long term. I can already see myself bringing out one treasure at a time until it's all back!!!
I can't wait to see the cottage. How fun to have such a fun future project.
