My Passion - Fine Silver from Clay

Hours spent in my studio are truly "stolen moments." My typical day goes something like this: up before dawn, do my aerobics, out to the barn, feed the horses, out the door to work by 7:00 am, teach students ALL day, back home to fix dinner, feed the hungry horses again, if any daylight left, ride the horses, then back to the computer to grade tests, papers, etc. Whew.... What did Women's Lib really do for us?? I ask you.... Sigh...

Wanted to share a few sane moments from my studio. Making silver jewelry from clay is truly a labor of love. Each piece begins as a small lump of clay. The clay is composed of silver shavings in a clay base. I form the clay design, add jewels or sterling components, fire the piece in a kiln, where the clay burns off, leaving the silver. I polish, buff, and shine...then, wa-la like magic I have this solid, silver creation! The end product is such a delight! I'm always stunned and elated that such a beautiful, shiny thing can come from such humble beginnings.

And the best part, the final silver piece is a "forever" treasure. Composed of 99.9% silver, each piece can be handed down for generations to come. They truly are heirloom pieces. You will find several examples on our "Items for Sale" pages. I also have a few pieces in my Etsy shop at: lyndacadejewelry.etsy.com

The best thing about making silver jewelry from clay... it is truly therapy for a crazy world.
Warmest regards,
Lynda

Hello there!

I am so enchanted by your blog, and I am so glad that you have visited me again! Thank you, thank you for allowing me to come into your world! I love how you open up and tell me about your day and the "stolen moments" in your studio; here, here! I am married to a wonderful man, no children, but I have to steal away the early morning to have time to gather my creative thoughts before my precious gets up and starts the world spinning!!! I see you have horses! YEAH! I am a city girl, but I just love those equines. Kelly from Tea Cups and Ponies is an awesome horsewoman and her pics are just marvelous of her broad of horses. I love your header; I am a crown freak and your lovely vintage goodies just hit the spot!

Please come back again soon!
